It all started several years ago when my husband was spending a lot of time in our basement woodshop making furniture for our living room. I made a comment about all the time he was spending in the basement. Was it that he wanted to make me lovely furniture or a way to avoid me? To prove he wasn't trying to avoid me he bought me a scroll saw so I could spend more time with him. I cut ornaments and puzzles that I used at my day job and gave away as gifts.
Later that year a friend of ours showed us these unique baskets that were made on a scroll saw and my husband said that I should try to make one of them. Our friend gave us the plans and after many tries we finally put one together.
We made several for Christmas gifts that year and everybody said we should try and sell them at our local craft show. So with the help of family and friends we started Baskets By Debi.
We now have several wholesale accounts and enjoy selling our baskets at local craft shows and fund raisers. Our new Etsy shop has been a new and enjoyable experience working with all the nice people on the different teams we are involved with.
We are a true small family business, My husband does most of the computer design work and internet sales and I come up with the basket Ideas and the making of the baskets.
